Student work placements during COVID-19

We have developed a new set of requirements relating to student work placements during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The updated processes help us to assess and manage the risks associated with placement and work-based learning in the current circumstances.

This work gives us:

  • Clarity on the criteria that must be met for a physically undertaken placement to proceed
  • Additional assurances from employers around providing a COVID-safe environment
  • Provisions for remotely completed work placements and work-based learning projects
  • A briefing on safe practice for students who will undertake a physical placement
  • An individual risk profiling tool for students.

These arrangements will be reviewed and, if necessary, refreshed at the close of each semester.

You can find the new appendices to the Placement Learning Code of Practice here.

You can also find a new module on Canvas to support the briefing of students before they begin an in-situ placement. Search for the module COVID, NCCAR03.
